Not sure about you but the change in seasons impact my mood and activity levels. Read on to learn my tips to overcome it.

Here in the UK, we have increasingly darker nights and mornings and I notice it in my mood and activity levels.

I know I am not alone in this, but how does this affect you?

I was talking to some of the ladies in my Membership about this and we are going to talk more about it in our topic call next Sunday so that we have a plan in place to keep the “Winter Sloth” at bay and motivation up through winter to achieve our goals.

I’ve not investigated it so don’t quote me on this, but I imagine there is a legacy here from our prehistoric times.  Can you imagine what it would have been like as a prehistoric Cave Dweller in winter!

They would have truly known that winter was coming

They would be getting prepared by storing up resources and preparing the caves for the harsh months to come.  Survival would have been the key.  Conserve energy.  Keep warm.  Find enough rations to see it out.

Survive!

My opinion is that this is what we are trying to do too, but we are living modern lives now which means we do not have to go into full survival mode but yet those prehistoric markers are still there trying to encourage us to GO TO THE CAVES! And stay warm!

So how can we keep up our motivation during winter?

1. Know yourself!

Self-awareness will always be the starting point.

    • How is the winter Sloth showing up for you this year?
    • What are you struggling with and why?

    2. Make a plan!

Once you have identified your areas of struggle you can work on finding a solution that is personal to you.

Look to keep your steps small, simple and achievable.

    Assess and adjust.

    3. Don’t go it alone!

Whatever it is you decide to work on I would bet it is likely to go better if you involve other people, whether that be an accountability partner/group, friends, coach or significant other.

Having someone to bounce ideas off, encourage you and hold you accountable will 100% help.

So those are my tips folks.
